Like no diet has ever worked for you...possibly because of your genes, the way you were raised, or other uncontrollable circumstances in your life?
I used to think that way.
I wasn't always in great shape - far from it.
I used to think I wasn’t good enough to get in great shape. It seemed like everyone else had more dedication than me and losing weight was much easier for those people.
Although I was always athletic, I was a very skinny kid growing up. My relationship with food could never be described as “healthy”. In fact, I had a “dad bod” as a teenager.
When I hit college age, I knew I had to get my health under control. This lead to me trying every diet under the sun.
Nothing ever stuck and my health actually declined. Eventually I packed on an extra 80 lbs.
I was frustrated, depressed, and frankly pissed off with my situation.
I blamed so many things for my physical state. It wasn’t my fault! I was fat because of my crappy job, my bleak finances, lack of time to work out and eat right, and of course my crappy genetics.
All of that was me just lying to myself to feel better about my inability to commit to making a real change.
